except for the ad at the end, that was great!  You can count me as one of those statistics.  I'll be happy to share with anyone the permanent side effects I experience from medicines and surgeries, and how each time it helped for a little while before things got even worse than before.  My body did learn to heal itself.  I am no longer sick all the time nor in constant debilitating pain.  That's good.

Chilling.
Great post, Appa!
(I've subscribed to Dr. Mercola's newsletter long ago)

This definitely hits home.
And wow! Those statistics are…well…disgusting!!!!!
The AMA has killed more people than all American wars combined? Holy sh**!
Pfizer has made more $$$ than all those Fortune 500 companies and more? Holy sh**!

Not really new to me…but those numbers…make me want to vomit!!!
(better not go see a doctor for that…)

Love You!

I'm pretty sure my Mom would have lived at least another five or six months (she had cancer) had the hospital she was in not “dispatched” her early by all the poking and prodding they did the last few days she was alive.  Once they had determined she had cancer, there was no reason for them to do what they did.   At that point, considering how far along the disease was, they should have just been making plans on how to keep her as free from pain as possible, and making her comfortable.

Instead, they actually stuck needles in her and withdrew fluid from her abdomen, and left her with an infection in the process that went through her in 48 hours.  Because she was old, they really didn't want to be bothered, so they just left her to die in agony.  They saw their opportunity to do this with my brother out of town, and she had wanted me to wait to come to be with her once she was out of the hospital, which she figured would be another day or two.  Well, yeah, she got out OK!!!

That combined with the nurse who insisted on putting the wrong cream on sores on her legs which burned her so bad she went into shock, and finally it was all too much for her heart.  Her last 48 hours on Earth were hell, though, from what I've managed to glean, in spite of one of my cousins half-hearted efforts, as a senior nurse who was there with her when she died (and who had finally ordered morphine for her the last few hours of her life).

She was in the hospital for almost a month, and in all that time they couldn't find a comfortable chair for her to sit in - she was in constant pain in her back, etc.  When I called her the night before she died she couldn't talk to me in any comprehensible way because she was in so much pain.  When I called to speak to the nurses, I was told there wasn't anything more they could do for her.  Bastards!!!!  I am still debating of whether or not to sue them.  There was no reason for her to be in that much pain!!!!

The moral of my rant is this:  If you have older parents, you need to be vigilant and very pro-active in their health care, because with us Baby-boomers comin' 'round the bend, we're going to be those “oldsters” soon enough, and because of our numbers, I can see the overstretched health-care system just doing everything they can to knock us all off as early as possible.  We had better take damn good care of ourselves, because the writing is on the wall!!!

Thanks for putting that up Keith.

Blessings………… Gem :)

When I was researching childbirth (because I was going to have a vbac, no matter what anyone said about it), I found a study by the WHO that showed over 80% of all complications during pregnancy and childbirth was due to things doctors had done, rather than things they had not done.  The rate is even higher when you only look at fatal complications.  That was the las nail in the box containing the medical model of prenatal care and management of childbirth.  Learning to trust my body and my intuition began at the exact same point I hired midwives, four years ago.  It's been a fantastic journey into the world of health since then.  Until just a few short months ago, I had never known what it felt like to have a healthy body, to not be sick and in pain all the time.  Doctors never treated what was really wrong with me, they only tried to treat the symptoms.  I exaggerate lots of things, but when I talk about my physical pain, I always play it down.  It was really bad.

If they actually cured you, you wouldn't have to come back, it's all about the money.

Damn right, Stacy!!!

I left the medical field, despite the schooling, time and $$$ spent…
because basically it comes down to 2 things…Money or Morals.
I chose Morals and left.

Disgusting how many choose Money. Ick.

Keith,

Thanks for sharing this.  Before doing a mid-life career shift into coaching, I was in the healthcare or “disease-care” system for 22 years.  I went into healthcare because of my mom.  When I was 16 and she was 52, she developed breast cancer.  She read all the alternative medicine literature available at the time (Catherine Elwood, Adele Davis etc), radically changed her diet and lifestyle (and had surgery) and lived for another very healthy 22 years.  I became fascinated with the natural/holistic health area and decided to make that my profession.  Enrolling in University, I got side tracked and didn't get back to holistic health until about 15 years ago.

I used the term “disease care”.  Regardless of the country we live in, transnational pharmaceutical companies control the “disease care” system.  Until we have a huge shift out of “growth and profit” as the only reasons for a business to be in existence, I fear the kind of statistics and scariness profiled in the video will continue.

I know many dear people who work in conventional health care and they are tired and de-moralized and want to be given the chance to be the healers they can be.  I applaud all the amazing integrated health practitioners who help people take control of their own health naturally.

It appears I've been missed.

Still not feeling the urge to write, so this YouTube will have to suffice.

I appreciate all the kind words and thoughtful comments.

Love and appreciation to one and all.

Nice to see you posting Keith.

When I was in the hospital a few years ago after a major surgery, I woke up with the nurse about to give my IV an injection of medication. I asked her what it was. She said it was Vicodin. I was still coming out of it from the surgery and was very groggy and all I said was, look at my chart.

I'm allergic to vicodin. She almost killed me.

Hey Keith,

Health care is a crazy business. Arguments for private health care, arguments for government intervention, lots of arguments but not much responsibility.

I haven't heard a bad thing about Mercola, in fact I've read a lot of stuff who believe he has the answer.

My only opinion on health is that it starts with your mind. If you have a healthy mind, the rest will eventually follow.

Great to hear from you Keith.

Hey GW, I agree up to a point.  My mental, emotional, and spiritual health was in dire straits when my body was not healthy.  It's all connected.  For me, I had to have a healthy body first, before the rest could follow.  Perhaps others need to work on their mind or spirit first, I'd say it depends on what is the least healthy, then go from there.

Hey friendstacy,
I guess i’m coming from a mental molecule connection point of view. I can’t help but think of the placebo effect or the folk lore story about telling a person that something hot was going to burn them and then dropping a cold thing on them and a blister appears….all that type of stuff is fascinating and reinforces that the mind is incredibly powerful and perhaps paradoxical.

On a lighter note, i’ve been eating a lot of delicious/not so healthy food lately and I guess i’m hoping that it’s not doing any serious damage.

eating something that was only prepared on a surface that someone laid a slice of bread on it earlier would cause for me the most incredible pain in my digestive tract.  That pain then causes mental agitation and emotional distress, to which I tend to react in anger.  The funny thing is, I never realized how much pain I had always been in until it started going away.  Be good to your body.  If you crave something, that's a sign of addiction, and you may do well to cut back or avoid it completely.  Additives, preservatives, flavors, colors, all of those things tend to be toxic to our bodies, at least to mine anyway.
