Translucent Revolution
I am really enjoying Arjuna Ardagh's new book, The Translucent Revolution, and felt I must write about it.
This book is about . . . The Awakening . . .
The definition of translucent from the book, pages 48-49:
"Webster's dictionary defines translucent as "letting light pass through, but not transparent." A transparent object, like a clean sheet of glass, is almost invisible. You see everything through a transparent object as if it were not there at all. An opaque object, on the other hand, blocks light completely. A translucent object allows light to pass through, but not diffusely, while maintaining its form and texture. Objects on the other side cannot be clearly distinguished. A crystal is translucent. So is a sculpture of frosted glass --- if the sun were to shine on it from behind, you would see the light passing through the sculpture, and it would appear to be glowing from the inside.
Translucent people also appear to glow from the inside. They have access to their deepest nature as peaceful, limitless, free, unchanging, and at the same time they remain fully involved in the event of their personal lives. Thoughts, fears, and desires still come and go; life is still characterized by temporary trials, misfortunes, and stress. But the personal story is no longer opaque: it is now capable of reflecting something deeper, more luminous and abiding, that can shine through it.
Contemporary translucents defy many of the spiritual concepts we have inherited from religious traditions. The thousands of people I have spoken to in researching this book are not recluses. They play vigorously in their relationships with others, their work, their creativity, and their political and environmental causes, but they play to play more than to win. ..."
Following years of study, Ardagh found ten characteristics of Translucents. Here are nine of them . . .
[1] Living Outside Traditional Frameworks --- Shun organized religion, hierarchy and labels in general.
[2] Looking Beyond Enlightenment --- Translucent people general laugh when asked if they are "enlightened". They are no longer seeking. So much for the self-help book industry!!!
[3] An Endless Journey --- Life is a process, a river, a process without end.
[4] The Return of the Goddess --- Where the patriarchal society highlighted transcendence, annihilation of ego, dissolving of limits, worship of the written word and adherence to unwavering moral precepts . . . Translucents embrace the goddess, drawn toward deep and abiding love, open acceptance, the celebration of all life, where art, music, images and sensations are just as sacred as words.
[5] Embracing Life and the Body --- No more celibacy!!! Translucents embrace both the world and the spirit. Spirit is expressed as form, and form only works when it is infused with spirit.
[6] Unresisting Experience --- Translucents "let go" and allow life to flow, embracing all the good but also never running from the bad.
[7] Engaging in Translucent Practice --- Simply, living in the Now.
[8] Life as Art and Generosity --- The gift we offer to others is . . . ourselves!! We offer open hearts, minds, and honesty. "Things", even though important, are not what's treasured.
[9] Being in Good Company --- We're not alone. Ardagh travels the world teaching and lecturing. He has noted a major shift over the past two decades where in his lectures those who are Awake far, far outnumber those who have never experienced a Translucent experience.
Are we translucent?

Help

Yep!
Never heard of this book though.
Interesting.
It seems these have caused people to see me as being “too loving” at times.
Imagine there being such a thing as “too loving”.
Thanks for posting this Keith.
Much Love

Well, I do fit into the description as far as I know myself. Interesting. Have to search for that book in my next visit to the bookstore. Blessings, Keith!
The very first part of the book didn't jump out and grab me. I had to muddle through till it finally became interesting.
I see myself as a part of this Awakening. About two or three years ago, for example, I just decided I didn't need any more “self-help” and just stopped reading … period. It wasn't till very recently that I began again. Aley was going to the bookstore last week and I told her if she saw anything interesting to pick it up for me. And she brought back this book.
The entire book discusses The Awakening, offering bios of several ordinary and not so ordinary people. It's quite lengthy and I'm not half finished yet.
I do recommend it.
I read very quickly and will read often, however, as I read your comment here today Keith, I realized I had not picked up a book in awhile. I plan to go out and purchase this book.
I am also a writer. I enjoy writing. I become amazed at what my thoughts are without reading and then I read a book that describes what I have thought of and experienced.
The movie “The Secret” or book has just a small part of the true essence of creating. We can know something from reading and being taught and then when we feel it then it becomes wisdom as it resonates with the deepest parts of who we are. We have been living backwards for so long. “The Moses Code” is excellent too and I began to read it to my Father on a recorder because he enjoys hearing my voice. It has such a simple concept that seems to easy to be real and yet it is. We make it all complicated from my viewpoint.
Thanks for the recommendation here.
I do like it. Others may not. Another book that one may want to consider is The Code by Tony Burroughs. We're starting an “Intenders Circle” here at the office … and people are very excited about this!!!!!
What is an Intenders Circle? People who give specific intent to create … to manifest. Visit Intenders.com to learn more. If there are those who believe we do not possess this ability … think again … for we've given intent and manifested too many times.
Of late, however, we appear to have gotten ourselves into something of a sticky wicket and need to manifest ourselves into a more balanced situation.
This, too, shall pass …
Yes, Keith, I feel this deeply.
Did you read my mind? Of course you did. I wanted to know about the Intenders group.
Thanks
Thank you for the book recommendations and the link to intenders.com For a while I too stopped reading self-help types of books, but my husband kept buying loads of them since as a non-violent communication trainer he need to read a suggested readings list. As these books are all over the place, I'm bound to pick up one when in leisurely mode, and before I know it am hooked - ha, ha, ha! Now I am simultaneously reading Ekhart Tole's two books, one of A. Roy, one of Deepak Chopra, and more.
Life is full of patterns and cycles. You're in a “read! read! read!” cycle right now!!!
Aley said she had received questions about Intenders and someone thought we could, perhaps, have a pod or something here.
Won't work. Part of the “process” is … actually touching … holding hands … increasing the energy so it can be sent out.
Hmmm? Could that be done on-line?
Interesting. Very interesting …
I have this book and bought this book a while ago because I know I want to read it sometime. I still have not read it and your blog made me to want to read it now. I am glad it is just within reach. I also bought the book The Code because of your Intenders Circle and the other two by Tony Burroughs. Bless you and your highest intentions Keith. Thank you,
Samme
I feel that our friendship is translucent or maybe I just mean transparent, is this the same concept?

I am not as enthusiastic about this book. Want to simply quote Steve McIntosh answer for a question at Deepak Chopra Center:
“Question: How could this collective coming together of leaders be most instrumental in bringing public awareness to the great shift that is occurring?
Answer: First, we could demythologize the idea of “the great shift”, recognizing that there is not just one shift, there are actually many shifts in consciousness going on simultaneously in the world-a shift from pre-traditional to traditional in Africa, a shift from traditional to modern in Asia, and in America, and ongoing shift from modern to postmodern, as well as the beginning of a shift from postmodern to integral.
We could also be more discerning about the nature and behavior of cultural evolution, and recognize the fallaciousness of the wishful thinking that expects that the world is going to “wake up” and suddenly become “cultural creative” in a miraculous transformation. ”
A personal story.
When I was on zaadz in the past I was very upfront, honest, transparent with who I was/am as a loving soul awakening… all smiles & hugs & some thoughtful words.
Here now, I am still the same and yet quite different… Today I expect my words to come from a deeper place than one usually reveals…. like, if I am going to smile & say I LOVE YOU, which I do mean wholeheartedly, I & am also going to talk about my frustrations with my unawakened parts that still get me into trouble. Everything isn't roses…. I'm not fully in control of me yet:):)!
So transparency one day & translucent the next… somewhat unreliable:)!
What would happen if we all really opened up to what we deal with day to day as well as cheer each other up to take our next steps? I ponder this…
True love to all
